CAHME is now accepting applications for the CAHME Aramark Innovation Grants, which support experiences for students at CAHME-accredited programs in universities that are also served by Aramark. As last year, a blue-ribbon panel of judges will select four winning programs to receive grants of up to $4,000 each.
Grants will be awarded for initiatives that support participation of healthcare management students in research, case studies, seminars, and other related activities that help to develop innovative thinking to address issues in healthcare. Among previous winners were grants that encouraged student participation in case study competitions, developed students’ interview skills, and expanded professional leadership training for students.
The deadline for applications is January 11, 2019. You can find the application form, complete instructions, and a list of last year’s winners on our web site. We are very grateful to Aramark for its generosity and for sharing the goal of CAHME and CAHME-accredited programs in developing future leaders in healthcare.
Over the next three months, CAHME will release a series of nine videos on our web site that examine the views of key stakeholders around developing the next generation of healthcare leaders. The video series will explore the following topics:
Why Accreditation Matters;
CAHME as a catalyst to foster continuous improvement in education and broadening this role globally;
Non-hierarchical leadership and the intergenerational workforce;
Leadership in community health, and the healthcare environment transitioning to fee-for-value;
Mission-driven leadership and the influencer as leader;
Understanding healthcare teams, the use of healthcare data, and changing clinical competencies;
Competency-based accreditation; and
Communication across stakeholders, adapting to ambiguity, and creating agile leaders.
Our introductory video features myself and CAHME’s first president, Gary Filerman, discussing what healthcare leaders will need in 2068 and the importance of values in restoring the vitality and integrity of healthcare leadership.
A companion white paper called “Getting to 100: Preparing Healthcare Leaders for the Next 50 Years” will be released by late November. Combined with our video series, we hope that these materials will provide insight to our programs, faculty, healthcare professionals, and students as we meet our mission of advancing the quality of graduate healthcare management education.
