CAHME Invites Scholarship Applications

Anthony Stanowski, DHA, FACHE

With the new academic year starting in just a few days at many colleges and universities, CAHME is pleased to announce that we will once again offer three scholarship opportunities for students at CAHME-accredited programs.

CAHME/Tim Campbell Scholarship

The CAHME/Tim Campbell Scholarship is named in memory of Tim Campbell, a CAHME board member who personified a commitment to service and volunteerism. Tim believed in hard work and selfless service in his professional and personal life, and believed that true success is measured through relationships that help others reach their full potential. The Scholarship is targeted to supporting student leaders who act selflessly to help others in advancing the quality of healthcare.

CAHME/Dawn Gideon Foundation Scholarship

The CAHME/Dawn Gideon Foundation Scholarship is named in memory of Dawn Gideon, who devoted her career to helping healthcare organizations succeed and who herself graduated from a CAHME-accredited MHA program at the University of Pittsburgh. The Scholarship is targeted to supporting women pursuing advanced education in healthcare management and who have demonstrated a commitment to communities in need.  As noted above, CAHME and DGF partnered to create avideo of past scholarship winners that demonstrates the high quality of students who have received the award.

CAHME/Judy Baar Topinka Foundation Scholarship for Health Policy
The CAHME/Judy Baar Topinka Foundation Scholarship for Health Policy is name in

memory Judy Baar Topinka, who dedicated herself to a lifetime of service to the people of the State of Illinois both in government and as an award-winning journalist. The Scholarship is targeted to supporting student living expenses/other costs while they are pursuing a health policy internship/fellowship.

You can read more about each scholarship and prior winners on our web site, or simply click on the links above to go directly to the application.

We are deeply grateful for the family and friends of Tim Campbell, the Dawn Gideon Foundation, and the Judy Barr Topinka Foundation for their support of future leaders of healthcare.

CAHME Introduces New Staff

Anthony Stanowski, DHA, FACHE

CAHME is continually looking to improve its efficiency and effectiveness in fulfilling our mission of improving the quality of healthcare management education. An important part of this effort is to make sure we are appropriately staffed with team members who bring the right set of skills. Our recent move to a “virtual” office model has allowed us to allocate more resources toward staffing. We take a flexible and innovative approach that includes full time, part time, contract staff, and administrative interns.

As we approach the beginning of another academic year, I thought it would be good to introduce some of the new staff with whom programs will interact on a range of CAHME activities and projects.

Jennifer Furjanic

Jennifer Furjanic is CAHME’s new Vice President for Accreditation Operations. Jennifer will oversee all aspects of CAHME’s accreditation activities. She brings extensive leadership experience in business, management, and planning from organizations as diverse as Dunwoody Village Continuing Care Retirement Community, The Board of Pensions of the PCUSA, and The Vanguard Group. She holds a BA from Thiel College and a Master of Business Administration in Healthcare Management from the CAHME-accredited program at Widener University.

Adrianne Cancillieri

Adrianne Cancillieri has joined CAHME part-time as Executive Assistant to the President/CEO. Adrianne brings a decade of experience with the Atlantic Health System in New Jersey, where she specialized in Human Resources. Adrianne will be responsible for coordinating activities for our Board, Councils, Committees, and external audiences. She holds a BS in Psychology from Lebanon Valley College. Prior to joining CAHME formally, Adrianne worked as a contractor for 6 months.

Jennifer Csernica

Jennifer Csernica has joined CAHME part-time as the Accreditation Coordinator, supporting Jennifer Furjanic in accreditation activities. She served as a Manager at Brown Brothers Harriman, and as a Senior Analyst Advanced Analytics at Distribution Insights.  She holds a BS from Babson College and an MBA from the Boston University Graduate School of Management.

Melissa Sanseverino

Melissa Sanseverino has joined CAHME part-time as our Accounting Coordinator, focusing on all aspects of CAHME accounting, billing, payroll, banking, and other important financial activities.  Melissa is a CPA, had served as a Senior Accountant at L’Oreal, a Senior Auditor at Ernst & Young, and is a graduate of The College of New Jersey.

Ethan Kannel

Ethan Kannel is CAHME’s administrative resident.  During his time with us this year, Ethan will focus on overseeing the CAHME awards program, grants, and our various scholarship programs. He holds a BA from Cornell University, is currently pursuing his MBA in Health Sector Management at Temple University.  This summer, Ethan is finishing up an internship at the University of Pennsylvania Health System.

I am excited to be working with this great group of new CAHME staff members. They bring an energy and enthusiasm to their roles which I know will serve CAHME well as we work to advance the quality of healthcare management education.
